CMEonSpasticity.com is dedicated to online CME conferences, courses and presentations (slides with voice over) on spasticity, given by local and international experts. Its mission is to keep you up-to-date with the most recent developments on spasticity.
  Editorial board

The Editorial Board of CMEonSpasticity.com is an independent committee whose mission is to ensure the scientific quality of the presentations in the online conferences section. Our task is to review and approve these presentations based on the importance and clinical relevance of the information they provide. The mission of the CMEonSpasticity.com Editorial Board also includes attending major conferences on spasticity so that the most important can be recommended. The Editorial Board firmly believes that the success of CMEonSpasticity.com depends upon the participation of members. We want to hear your ideas; the success of CMEonSpasticity.com relies on it.

Mark Freedman

Dr. Mark Steven Freedman, BSC MSC MD CSPQ FRCPC is currently Professor of Medicine (Neurology) at the University of Ottawa and Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Research Unit at The Ottawa Hospital - General Campus. Dr. Freedman obtained most of his degrees at the University of Toronto, though he has received PostGraduate Neurology Specialist Training at Queen Square in London, England. Dr. Freedman has over 20 years of experience in the management of patients with multiple sclerosis , 4 years of research experience in Molecular Biochemistry and Neurochemistry (M.Sc.), 3 years Clinical Biochemistry experience and 17 years in Immunology basic research (Toronto, Israel, Montreal, and Ottawa). He is currently holding peer reviewed and industry related funding for investigating immune mechanisms of multiple sclerosis, with particular interest in the role of dendritic, lymphocytic and monocytic cells as well as cytokines and chemokines. Dr. Freedman is principal investigator on over two dozen clinical trials with new agents in multiple sclerosis. In addition, he has over 100 published articles, book chapters and abstracts, and has given hundreds of invited lectures, talks or presentations, nationally and internationally. Dr. Freedman is also a member of several international societies for basic research.


 
Gordon Ko

Dr. Gordon D. Ko, MD, CCFP(EM), FRCPC, FAAPM&R, CIME, N.MD is a fully qualified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, having received certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (1988). In addition, he is board certified in the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Prior to this, he also received a certificate of special competency in Emergency Medicine through the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He is the only physician in Canada with specialty certification concurrently in both fields. Dr. Ko also has board certifications as a Certified independent medical examiner (American Board of Independent Medical Examiners) and as a naturopathic physician (American Naturopathic Medical Association). He is executive director for the Canadian Association of Orthopaedic Medicine, serves in the Christian Medical Dental Society and is Chair of the national steering committee on Botox for pain. As medical director for the Canadian Centre for Integrative Medicine in Markham, Ontario, Dr. Ko leads a team of specialists in anesthesiology, pediatrics, physiatry and rheumatology working with allied health professionals (physiotherapy, chiropractic, psychology, naturopathy, acupuncture) focused on a multidisciplinary approach in the management of chronic pain and disability. Currently, Dr. Ko is Associate Professor, Senior University, B.C. and Lecturer in the division of Physiatry, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. He was former course coordinator for the Division of Occupational therapy, Lecturer for the Division of Physiotherapy and Clinical Oral Examiner for the Canadian Association of Certified Prosthetists and Orthotists. With his university appointments, Dr. Ko continues to do clinical work, residency teaching and research at the Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre. His major area of clinical research focuses in the treatment of fibromyalgia and chronic muscle pain syndromes.


 
Liesly Lee

Dr. Liesly Lee, BSC MSC MD FRCP(C) is Assistant Professor of Medicine (Neurology), Promotion in the Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology at Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre, University of Toronto. Dr. Lee is a Student Interest Group in Neurology (SIGN) Faculty Representative for the American Academy of Neurology and Clinical Services Education Coordinator for the Division of Neurology, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is also Director of General Internal Medicine Ambulatory Clinic in the Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre at Univeristy of Toronto. Dr. Lee is currently Undergraduate Neurology Education Coordinator of the Division of Neurology, Faculty of Medicine and at the University of Toronto. Dr. Lee has received various awards from the University of Toronto, including the Department of Medicine Young Teacher Award in 2002, the Division of Neurology’s Postgraduate Teaching Award in 2001 and the University of Toronto Open Admission Scholarship in 1984. Dr. Lee was also nominated for the Peters-Boyd Academy Teaching Award three times. Dr. Liesly Lee is a member if the Christian Medical and Dental Society (Canada), the Ontario Medical Association, the Canadian Neurological Association as well as a member if the Ontario Neurological Association. Dr. lee is also an Associate Member if the American Academy of Neurology.


 
André Lalonde

Le Docteur André Lalonde est omnipraticien en solo à Laval depuis un quart de siècle. Il exerce également à la Clinique de la douleur de l'hôpital Sacré-Coeur de Montréal.


 
Jean-Pierre H. Coté

Le Docteur Jean-Pierre H. Côté a fait ses études de médecine et obtenu son diplôme de médecine à la Faculté de médecine, de l’Université de Sherbrooke en 1996. Après avoir complété sa spécialité en neurologie, il y a reçu 5 ans plus tard son diplôme de spécialiste en Neurologie, et s’est spécialisé en électromyographie (EMG) au Département de neurologie, de l’Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke Il a exercé la neurologie pendant deux ans à l'Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke, puis a travaillé à l’Hôpital Sainte-Marie de Trois-Rivières pendant 2 ans. Après avoir pratiqué un an au Centre hospitalier de Verdun, il a occupé de 1986 à 1998 un poste de neurologue spécialisé en ÉMG à l'hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal. Le Dr Côté a ouvert en 1996 un laboratoire d'EMG et de potentiels évoqués, en 1998, il a décidé de mettre sur pied une clinique spécialisée dans le traitement de la sclérose en plaques à Montréal. Il a participé à plusieurs projets de recherche et publié notamment sur la sclérose en plaques.
