  Biography  

Dr. Gordon Ko

Dr. Gordon D. Ko, MD, CCFP(EM), FRCPC, FAAPM&R, CIME, N.MD is a fully qualified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, having received certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (1988). In addition, he is board certified in the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Prior to this, he also received a certificate of special competency in Emergency Medicine through the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He is the only physician in Canada with specialty certification concurrently in both fields.

Dr. Ko also has board certifications as a Certified independent medical examiner (American Board of Independent Medical Examiners) and as a naturopathic physician (American Naturopathic Medical Association). He is executive director for the Canadian Association of Orthopaedic Medicine, serves in the Christian Medical Dental Society and is Chair of the national steering committee on Botox for pain.

As medical director for the Canadian Centre for Integrative Medicine in Markham, Ontario, Dr. Ko leads a team of specialists in anesthesiology, pediatrics, physiatry and rheumatology working with allied health professionals (physiotherapy, chiropractic, psychology, naturopathy, acupuncture) focused on a multidisciplinary approach in the management of chronic pain and disability.

Currently, Dr. Ko is Associate Professor, Senior University, B.C. and Lecturer in the division of Physiatry, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. He was former course coordinator for the Division of Occupational therapy, Lecturer for the Division of Physiotherapy and Clinical Oral Examiner for the Canadian Association of Certified Prosthetists and Orthotists. With his university appointments, Dr. Ko continues to do clinical work, residency teaching and research at the Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre. His major area of clinical research focuses in the treatment of fibromyalgia and chronic muscle pain syndromes.
